Being a black woman is tough.

Especially being a black woman in America.

We aren’t allowed to be vulnerable without being mocked for it.

We aren’t allowed to stand up for ourselves without being called a ‘bitch’ or ‘bossy’.

God forbid we raise our voice, and then we’re seen as the angry black woman.

But being a black woman isn’t synonymous with sadness.

We are pioneers for music, fashion, art and so much more.

Once in a while it’s important to close our eyes and take a deep breath.

Clear our minds when we open our eyes,

to remember that being a black woman is a blessing.
