Why do you stay awake late into the night?
Why do you drink until you lose your clear sight?
Why not try something new in lieu of waiting around for a cue?
Why not open yourself up to those around you?
Why, oh why do you self-destruct?
Realise you are coasting to a dangerous plight,
They may not see you turning out the light,
those whom you may be closest to,
Darkness blinds them from your coming bout,
Why, oh why do you shut them out?
Now we’re looking for ways to meet our demise,
So we fall in love and this is not so wise,
Now we’re hurting and telling ourselves lies,
But this is what keeps us looking up to the skies,
asking why?
